Alpine Electronics Wins MERA Anti-Transshipping Award
MERA awarded Alpine Electronics of America, Inc. the “MERA Anti-Transshipping Award” for the second consecutive year. The award is given to a MERA manufacturer member for its efforts to eradicate transshipping. Transshipping involves the commerce of branded products in a manner that is contrary to the covenants provided by the manufacturer’s dealer agreement. For example, unauthorized companies often sell mobile electronics products over the Internet.
“Alpine is deeply honored to win the MERA Anti-Transshipping Award again this year,” said Glenn Ihrke, vice president, national sales, Alpine Electronics of America, Inc. “We would like to thank MERA and its members for recognizing our efforts against the transshipping of our products and our determination to protect the investments made by our authorized dealers in supporting our brand. Our position on transshipping has been one of the cornerstones of the Alpine business plan since the inception of the brand 29 years ago. Today the Internet presents new challenges and we intend to increase our efforts to meet them. The brand premium attached to Alpine is far too important to expect anything less,” Ihrke concluded.
MERA gave each of its manufacturer member companies the opportunity to submit a self-nomination for consideration for the MERA Anti-Transshipping Award. MERA then opened the voting to its full retailer membership.
